Hello friends!! Wow! What a weekend it’s been!! I just wrapped up a 2 day craft fair and right now I’m sitting at the front desk of our local Fire Department, waiting for the parade to start, writing my blog post. Little disclosure, my Dad is the Fire Chief so it’s not all that unusual to be sitting at the front desk, waiting for the parade to start. But let’s get to it!! I have sooooo many other products that didn’t even see the light of day, but luckily this challenge happens twice a year and eventually, all of those NBUS will get the attention they so deserve.. So here is the first card I made.
I used Mermaid Kisses by Reverse Confetti along with Framed Tags, Madison Avenue by Mama Elephant for the frame and the scalloped background you see, I actually used my Silhouette to make!! I LOVE that machine.
I colored the images with my copic markers and heat embossed the sentiment. I used distress inks to get that ombre color behind the scalloped background. I used Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron and added a few water drops for some added interest. This little mermaid was so fun to color, that I decided to make another card using her as well. This next one I’m very proud of. I’ve never done anything like this before and it didn’t come without some challenges, that’s for sure… All of which you can see in my YouTube video that I should have posted by the end of this week.
I turned this cute little mermaid into a watered shaker card!!! I know, this picture is impossible to see just how cool it really looks, but trust me, it’s pretty darn adorable!! I started out with a watercolored background that I made several months ago. It has such pretty colors in it and it was perfect for an underwater look. I colored the images using my copic markers, once again and added some sequins to the water. I also used the All Prettied Up by Mama Elephant die for the card front. Lastly I added a few clear droplets to the front to imitate the look of water droplets.
These are my first entry into the NBUS challenge – ever!! If you don’t know what the NBUS Challenge is, please check out my new friend, Darnell’s blog for all the wonderful details.
Ok, stay tuned for my next post containing my next entry. I’m adding all my entries today because it’s the very last day of this challenge and frankly, it was the ONLY time I had available to enter!! Thanks for taking a look at my post and I’ll see you in the next one…

Misty, you are a doll to work so hard to get your darling cards entered in my NBUS Challenge #7 before it closed! They really are all sensational! I’m sorry about how the InLinkz works so that a person can only enter one card per post. What a hassle when you have a whole array of cards like the ones here and your next posts with your brilliant Halloween cards! I thought I got an email where you had successfully uploaded a card to Flickr? We can talk more about any questions you have when you have some time. You are a sweetie and I appreciate your support!! Mwah! Hugs, Darnell
Hi Darnell!! This just popped up in my notifications today… The 26th.. How bizarre is that?!!? Thank you for your kind words though!! I look forward to trying InLinkz again sometime so I can play around with the 2 options. I want to try “tricking” the system but I also want to try entering through Flickr again and just do what you suggested and put my blog info. In the caption. If I ever have time to make another card, that is… I volunteer in my son’s class everyday and also in his best friends class, so I’m basically at the school the entire day – Mon. Thru Friday.. And then I help them both with homework after school and then I sit at their football practice Tues. – Thurs. until 6:30 at night!!! This is why I haven’t been posting anything lately, I haven’t had any free time!!! I HAVE to figure out some ME time though, or else I’m gonna go crazy!!! Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and reply to your comment, even though you sent it like 2 weeks ago. Still have no idea why it sent me a notification today… Take care, Darnell. Talk soon ~
