Distressed Sunset

Hello again!!  I have a super easy, super fun card for this week’s theme at Always Fun Challenges.  The theme is Fun at the Beach.  THIS is my idea of fun at the beach.  I like to lounge around in the sun, reading a good book, while sipping on an adult beverage from time to time.  Because let’s be honest, certain alcohol’s taste THE best when it’s nice and hot out.

This card really reminded me of our Costa Rica trip last year.  The sunset, the palm trees, the sentiment is what got me.  That’s pretty much what we did while we were there.  We lived in the sunshine and swam in the sea…  For hours…  and hours…  It was so hot there, that’s all we could do!!  And the water was the perfect temperature.

But getting to it, I used several distress inks to achieve this background, all of which are listed below.  Then I just used that gorgeous palm tree die cut out of black card stock and added a sentiment, which I then heat embossed with black embossing powder.  Oh, and I added some birds too…   Once I had the front done, I popped it up on some black fun foam and attached it to a black card base.  Voila!!  Card complete!!

The only modification I did was the bottom of the palm tree die was open and I wanted a solid hill.  So I just left the bottom portion out of my big shot when die cutting it and then I went in with a razor and cut around the trees.

That’s it.  Thanks for stopping by.  Head over to Always Fun Challenges if you want to join in on this fun theme or just want to see what the rest of the design team has created.

See you next week!!
