She Conquered… Alcohol Lift Ink

Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. This week the challenge is
Anything Goes
We are showcasing Impression Obsession Products this week. If you have any of these products, we’d love to see them used, but it’s certainly not a requirement to join the challenge.
As always, the generous folks at Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a $50 voucher to one randomly selected winner to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store.

I FINALLY experimented with the alcohol lift ink and I have to say I love it. What a cool medium this is. Not only is it really cool, but you get two cards out of it!!
For these two cards I used an Impression Obsession cling stamp named “She Conquered” and the beautiful woman image is called “Sydnee” by Picket Fence.
My first step was to create my alcohol inked background using a 5×7″ piece of Yupo paper. I didn’t use any blending solution or isopropyl alcohol at all. I simply used alcohol inks and a felt pad. The colors I used are Amethyst, Flamingo, Mermaid, Patina and then I went back in with some Raspberry and Stream. I used a mini applicator tool with a piece of felt to move the color around a bit and to get that really interesting cell-like affect.

Once I had the background complete, I cut it down to 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″. Then I moved on to stamping my image with the alcohol lift ink. I placed my yupo paper and “Sydnee” stamp in my Mini Misti and stamped the image with the Alcohol Lift Ink. Then I quickly removed the yupo paper and slipped in an A2 sized piece of Neenah Solar White 80 lb. card stock and stamped the image again, without re-inking it. This is just to transfer the alcohol ink that I just lifted onto another piece of card stock. There were a couple spots where the alcohol ink didn’t transfer, so I stamped the image once again. But first I made sure to clean “Sydnee” really well so that I wouldn’t transfer any alcohol ink onto my white ink pad. Then I repeated the same process. Now I have two pieces of paper with the same image on them.
This may sound a bit confusing, but it’s really not. If you’d rather see the process, I’ve included a process video at the end of this post. Or you can simply click here and I’ll take you right to it.

Next I used a template that I had made to cut my card front (or my yupo paper) so that I could fit both Sydnee and the sentiment on my card front. The alcohol inks I chose and this cool puzzle layout were both inspired by a video I watched on Jennifer McGuire’s YouTube channel.
Once I had my puzzle pieces cut, I heat embossed my sentiment with Ranger’s Magenta embossing powder. How perfect does this color match my background piece??

To finish this first card up, I glued black craft foam to the back of my puzzle pieces and adhered them to my card base. Lastly, I added a couple Metallic Silver Jewels by Pretty Pink Posh to add a little bling to my design.
Once this card was complete, I moved on to the transfer image on the Neenah 80 lb. card stock. I still had a strip of yupo paper that I didn’t use on the first card so I put the two together and stamped the sentiment using Distress Oxide Wilted Violet.

To spice it up a bit, I used a strip of 1/8″ scor-tape on the right side of my card and covered it with Distress Glitter in Vintage Platinum. I LOVE the color of this glitter. I had a piece of black and white chevron patterned paper in my stash so I used that as my background piece. Lastly I added a few Studio Katia’s Onyx Crystals for a little more bling. And just like that, I had two cards!!
