Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. This week the challenge is
Whatever The Weather
We are showcasing Sunny Studio Products this week. If you have any of these products, we’d love to see them used, but it’s certainly not a requirement to join the challenge.
As always, the generous folks at Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a $50 voucher to one randomly selected winner to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store. You can enter 5 times which means you can make 5 different projects following this week’s prompt and have 5 chances to win a shopping spree!! Sounds like a win/win to me!!
You will find a list of all the products that I used as well as my process video down below.

This card makes me want to go camping!! How cute are these little critters? I want to be sitting around their campfire.

The stamp set I used it called Critter Campout. I used the matching dies but later ended up trimming off the white border. Using the dies made this process much easier.
I started out by working on my background first. I cut a piece of Bristol Smooth card stock down to 4″x9″ and masked off the bottom 1.5″ with SSS masking paper. Using distress oxides inks, I created my night sky. I used Tumbled Glass, Blueprint Sketch, Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot.
Before moving on to the grassy area, I colored and cut out my images so that I would know exactly where to put the yellow glow from the fire. As always, I stamped my images out on X-Press It Blending card which is a copic friendly card stock.

Once I knew where I wanted my fire glow, I masked off the top of my card front with post it tape. I used distress inks for the grassy area. Starting Mustard Seed for the glow I then moved on to Forest Moss, Peeled Paint, Mowed Lawn and ending with a little Black Soot. To create my stars, I used Picket Fence Distress Paint and a toothbrush to flick paint on just the sky portion. To add a little more detail, I used a white gel pen and craft pick to add some shooting stars.

After cutting off the white border from all of my images, I took a Memento Tuxedo Black Dual Tip Marker and traced around each image. This is crucial to mask any imperfections in my fussy cutting.

I wanted some of my images to have dimension so I used large and small foam squares to pop up the deer, fire and hedgehog. Before gluing everything in place, I stamped my sentiment using SSS clear embossing ink and heat set it with super fine white embossing powder. Using my Misti, I stamped some trees with VersaFine Onxy Black ink.

I glued all my images in place and used a little clear Wink of Stella on the fire flames and then topped it off with Nuvo Crystal Glaze. I also added a little glaze to the light from the flashlight that Mr. Raccoon is holding. I thought my card was complete, but at the last minute I added a moon. I cut out a small circle using my SSS Nested Circle dies and watercolor card stock. I watercolored Squeezed Lemonade and Iced Spruce distress inks to add a little color to my moon. To finish off my card, I added my card front to a 4.25″ x 8.25″ black card base.
Below you will find a breakdown of all the copic markers I used to color my images. I’ve added this breakdown to Pinterest to make it easy to pin, in case anyone would like to use the same color combos. Just search Happy Ink Designs and then look for my Color Breakdown board.
