Inhale Confidence

Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week the challenge is

No Designer Paper

We are showcasing Picket Fence Studios Products this week.  If you have any of these products, we’d love to see them used, but it’s certainly not a requirement to join the challenge.

As always, the generous folks at Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a $50 voucher to one randomly selected winner to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store.  You can enter 5 times which means you can make 5 different projects following this week’s prompt and have 5 chances to win a shopping spree!! Sounds like a win/win to me!! You will find a list of all the products that I used as well as my process video down below.

This challenge was pretty easy for me since I don’t really use designer paper that often. However, I STILL haven’t decided which version I like best. I often ask my hubs and son for their input and sometimes I’ll even pull my Mom into it. Well I pulled all 3 of them into it this week. I asked them which version they like best, black on white sentiment or white on black.

Option A
Option B

My Mom liked one, my hubby liked the other and my son keeps changing his answer every time I ask him… So I decided to create a poll on Instgram and ask the same question. I’ve never done a poll so I thought it would be fun! Which version do YOU like best? A or B? Please let me know by commenting below or jump over to my IG account and cast your vote there.

I had a lot of fun making this card. I love Picket Fence stamps and stencils. I decided to create my own background using a stencil and some Distress Oxide inks. But before that, I stamped the beautiful Madelyn image (by Picket Fence) using Lawn Fawn’s Manatee dye ink so I’d know where to mask. I knew I wanted to heat emboss her but I thought it might cause an issue to mask if I heat embossed her first. So I just stamped her using a gray ink, masked her and then created my background. I took a stencil from my stash and ink blended Peacock Feathers, Seedless Preserves and Spun Sugar distress oxide inks on Bristol Smooth card stock.

Once my background was complete, I restamped Ms. Madelyn with clear embossing ink and heat set it with black embossing powder. Then I used more distress ink to color the image. I used Gathered Twigs for her hair and Antique Linen mixed with a little Gathered Twigs for her skin. I added a tiny bit of Victorian Velvet to her cheek and lips. I colored the flowers in her hair with Picked Raspberry and Festive Berries.

This is where I got stuck with the sentiment. I originally heat embossed the sentiment from the Exhale Worry stamp set with black embossing powder. But then I worried that it kind of got lost in the background. So then I stamped the sentiment again on black card stock and heat set it with white embossing powder. Then I couldn’t decide which one I liked better.

To finish it off, I popped the front panel up on some craft foam and adhered it to a black card base. I added a couple Onyx Crystals from Studio Katia as an embellishment.

I would LOVE to hear which one you like better. Black on white or white on black? Please comment below of jump over to my IG today and let me know!!

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!
