Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. This week the challenge is
Travel/Vacation
We are showcasing Lawn Fawn Products this week. If you have any of these products, we’d love to see them used, but it’s certainly not a requirement to join the challenge.
As always, the generous folks at Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a $50 voucher to one randomly selected winner to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store. You can enter 5 times which means you can make 5 different projects following this week’s prompt and have 5 chances to win a shopping spree!! Sounds like a win/win to me!! I’ve linked all of the supplies that I used at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

Happy Summer everyone!! Well, it’s still a couple of days from the official start date, but it’s close enough! My boy is out of school, the sun is shining and we just got back from vacation so this was a perfect challenge this week for me.

I chose to create my idea of the perfect vacation. Any where there is the ocean, palm trees and a beautiful sunset, that’s where I’ll be. That is my definition of vacation. I actually created two cards for this challenge. I did another one with a different sky technique which I shared at the end of my video. But for this card, I started out by ink blending Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade and Candied Apple on Bristol Smooth card stock.

Then I cut the frame out using Lawn Fawn’s Tropical Backdrop die. This is an awesome die! I love that you also get separate palm tree dies to add additional palm trees or to paper piece over the top of the trees attached to the frame.

I cut out my ocean waves using the Stitched Simple Wavy Borders die also by Lawn Fawn. I used two different colors for the waves. Both look amazing with the colors of the sky. I used a sheet of colored card stock that I believe to be Lawn Fawn’s Peacock. I also used SSS Audrey Blue card stock. Then I placed a ton of foam strips and foam squares on the back of my frame to pop it up for dimension.

I cut the sentiment out three times with the left over colored card stock. The sentiment is called Happy Summer Line Border die by Lawn Fawn. Using Elmer’s Craft Bond, I glued them all together and trimmed it down to fit in between the two palm trees on each side. I used a tiny bird die that I had in my stash.

For a final touch, I went over the sentiment with my Nuvo Aqua Shimmer pen. I attached my card front to a black card base and I was done! Here’s the other card I created using a different technique to create the sky.

This ALMOST ended up in my trash, but luckily I was able to salvage it. I need to work on my sky colors next time, but I really like the realistic effect that this sky has.
So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!
