Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. This week the challenge is
Thank You/Thanksgiving
We are showcasing Hero Arts Products this week. If you have any of these products, we’d love to see them used, but it’s certainly not a requirement to join the challenge.
As always, the generous folks at Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a $50 voucher to one randomly selected winner to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store. You can enter 5 times which means you can make 5 different projects following this week’s prompt and have 5 chances to win a shopping spree!! Sounds like a win/win to me!! I’ve linked all of the supplies that I used at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

I used a stencil called Abstract Waves by Hero Arts this week. I love, love, LOVE this stencil. It’s so versatile and so beautiful. I was having so much fun with this stencil, that I made 2 cards.

Starting out with some Dark Chocolate card stock by SSS, I stenciled Golden Sand Kiss glitter polish by Cosmic Shimmer over the Abstract Waves. Wow!! It’s so gorgeous against the dark card stock.

I thought the Thanks and Leaves stamp set by SSS was perfect for this challenge. So I white heat embossed the sentiment on a piece of Burnt Orange card stock.

I used the Wonky Rectangles die to frame my sentiment. I really liked the dark chocolate and burnt orange together so I used the burnt orange as my background layer as well. I popped the sentiment up on some craft foam and stamped out a few leaves from the same Thanks and Leaves stamp set using Fall colored Distress Oxide inks. I stamped several leaves so I would have some for my 2nd card too. I attached my card front onto a top folding card base and moved on to card #2.

I could’ve made 50 backgrounds using this Abstract Waves stencil, it’s just so fun!! I pretty much did the exact same thing for this card, except this time I reversed the colors. First I thought about turning this into a shaker card, so I cut a rectangle out of the background using the same Wonky Rectangle die, but to my dismay I cut it crooked!! So a shaker was out. I was so bummed because I thought I had just ruined this gorgeous background, but then I decided I was going to make it work. What did I have to lose? I created my sentiment the same way I did on the first card only this time I added a border around it to cover up my crooked opening. And it really made the sentiment pop. Added bonus!!

A couple week’s ago, I made a Happy Fall card and I really liked the colors that I used so I decided to add a layer of light blue to this card. The patterned paper was from a previous card kit and it was just the right color of blue so I used it for my background layer too. I didn’t pop the sentiment up on craft foam for this one because you would’ve been able to see my crooked opening behind it. I added a few of the left over leaves around my sentiment and once again added my card front to a top folding card base. This time I used Neenah Desert Storm as my card base. Since I still had several leaves left over, I added a couple inside both cards. Not only are the sentiments great on the Thanks and Leaves stamp set, but the leaves are gorgeous too!!
And just because it’s so beautiful, here’s a close up of this gorgeous pattern.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!
