Send Happiness Release by Simon Says Stamp

Hello everyone!!! It’s been awhile, hasn’t it?? For those of you that don’t know, I’ve been suffering some pretty horrible health problems since December, but I FINALLY was able to have the surgery that I needed on June 3rd (since the one in February didn’t help) so I’m home and healing and feeling pretty good!! I’ve had a few setbacks only because I was so sick going into surgery. But that’s ok, I’m alive, I’m (getting) well and I’m sharing this wonderful new release with you!! I’ll include the entire release at the bottom of this post, but you can also click here and go directly to the Simon Says Stamp store.
For this card I used the new Lil Critters Boston Terrier wafer die. Isn’t he adorable? I thought about this after the fact, but how cute would a little bow be to make this into a sweet little girl pup?

So I cut this die out 3 times. Once with kraft card stock, once with SSS Ivory card stock and finally black card stock. Then to add a little interest I took Frayed Burlap distress ink and I ink blended around the edges of the kraft card stock part of the pup. I did the same with the Ivory parts using Antique Linen distress ink. And then obviously I used black card stock to cut the eyes and nose.

To make the eyes and nose pop a little, I went over them with my Tonic Aqua Shimmer pen and then added some Tonic Crystal Glaze to make them look nice and shiny. I set my Lil Critter aside to dry and I started to work on my background.

I used the Plank Background rubber stamp by SSS and using my brand new black Misti (which I’m so excited about since my old Misti had cracked at the hinges), I stamped it on 110 lb. Neenah Solar White card stock in Fog ink. I cut out a partial circle using the Simon Says Stamp Nested Circles die which unfortunately is currently out of stock. However the Circle Thin Frames die is a great alternative.

Using a scrap piece of Neenah Solar White card stock, I used a couple blending brushes to blend just a light layer of color. Mowed Lawn for the grass and Tumbled Glass for the sky, both distress inks. You could also just ink blend directly onto your card base and skip the extra layer, if you prefer. It makes for clean lines from the side profile. I glued everything together using Gina K Connect glue which is still my favorite liquid glue at the moment.

For the sentiment I used the stamp set You Got This from SSS and stamped it with Gina K Amalgam ink and the Friend wafer die also by SSS in black and white card stock. I cut the word “Friend” out three times with the white card stock and layered them together. I used a different glue to glue them together because the word is so small and any other liquid glue (that I have) would have been too much so I used a Tonic Smooth Precision glue pen. It’s perfect for smaller dies like this. I decided to pop my boston terrier up with some foam squares to add a little dimension and to finish it off, I added a few Onyx Crystals by Studio Katia. I attached everything to a top folding card base using the Gina K Connect glue and that’s it!!
Below you’ll find a list of all the products that I used to make this card and below that is the entire new release by Simon Says Stamp!!!
