I have a fun, but simple card to share with you this week. I decided I needed these Laughing Animals in my life. I love laughter, I love seeing people laugh, I love hearing it, I have been known to start laughing myself even if I don’t know what’s so funny, just because hearing my loved ones laughter makes me do it as well.

For starters, I took a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Card Stock and I stamped these funny guys using Ranger’s Archival Jet Black Ink. I thought they would be really fun to watercolor using distress inks so I started with some Scattered Straw and Walnut Stain and I watercolored my giraffe. Next I colored my elephant with Pumice Stone and added a few shadows to my zebra using Hickory Smoke.

I cut the image out using a Stitched Mod Rectangle die since I didn’t have the matching die. I added a little color to the sky with Tumbled Glass and finished off the bottom with Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron.

I added some foam tape to the back and popped it up on some patterned paper. The patterned paper matched perfectly! I felt it needed a bit more color so I added everything to a piece of Teal card stock. That wasn’t quite enough color for me so I picked out a bunch of colored card stock and using the Slimline Scallop Frame die by Simon Says Stamp, I die cut the Happy Birthday out of each color. The colored card stock I used was Doll Pink, Orange Peel, Banana, Green Apple, Island Blue and a purple I had in my stash.

Now I had my color, but I needed some sparkle, some shine. I went over each letter with a glitter pen and topped them off with some Nuvo Crystal Glaze. That combination adds the PERFECT amount of sparkle and shine. To finish it off, I added a few beautiful aqua pearls from Studio Katia called Bora Bora. Lastly, I added a pink bow for a little extra sparkle. I attached everything to a top folding card base.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!

Make a Card + Envelope

We are showcasing our very own Simon Says Stamp Exclusive Products this week.  If you have any of these products, we’d love to see them used, but it’s certainly not a requirement to join the challenge.

As always, the generous folks at Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a $25 voucher to one randomly selected winner to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store.  You can enter 5 times which means you can make 5 different projects following this week’s prompt and have 5 chances to win a shopping spree!! Halloween is going to be so different this year. I usually get our street closed down and we pass out candy to half of the population of our little town but this year… will be different. Everyone that I’ve talked to is not passing out candy this year, including us. It’s not worth the risk. But since we aren’t passing out candy, I decided to make a few Halloween cards this year. I usually don’t make any for Halloween but I wanted to feel that Halloween spirit one way or another.

I’ve never done an envelope before. I mean, I’ve stamped a couple things on the outside but never have I ever gone to this length to decorate an envelope. I loved it!! Now if only I could address it in a beautiful calligraphy or hand lettering. Hopefully someday!! For starters, I cut a piece of Bristol Smooth card stock using a Wonky Stitched Rectangle die and then I started ink blending Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch and Black Soot distress oxide inks. I set that aside to dry.

Once it was dry, I splattered water on it with my Distress Sprayer and to add a little extra sparkle, I flicked on Lawn Fawn’s Liquid Stardust. I set that aside and moved on to the grass. I ink blended Forest Moss and Peeled Paint distress inks and cut out the shape of hills using a hill die from my stash. I made sure to cut the bottom with the Wonky Stitched Rectangle die so that it would match the top part of the card.

Next I moved on to the coloring. I colored all of my images from The Boo Crew stamp set with my copic markers, including the Boo Crew sentiment. Then I fussy cut everything out. I didn’t leave a white border around my images so I took my Black Memento Marker and drew around all of the edges of each image.

Next I heat embossed the second part of my sentiment with white embossing powder and popped both up on some black foam squares. Before putting everything together, I heat embossed the spider and spiderweb (also from The Boo Crew stamp set) with black embossing powder.

Lastly I glued everything together and added a few bats for good measure. I was ready to move on to the envelope. I really wanted to use all of the adorable trick or treater’s in this set, but I didn’t want my card to be too crowded so the few that I didn’t use on the card, I used on the front of the envelope.

I used a white Simon Says Stamp slimline envelope and I added a piece of scrap bristol card stock to the inside of the envelope so that all of the coloring wouldn’t go through. First I stamped all of my images and then I masked them off with masking paper.

I ink blended the same colors that I used on my card. I removed the masking paper and copic colored my images. The envelope was a little difficult to color on only because I’m so used to using only copic friendly card stock. But it was nothing to be concerned about. It still turned out so adorable!! To finish them both off, I added some Aqua Shimmer Pen on both ghosts and a few of the witches accessories. This was my best attempt at photographing the glitter.

Since my card base is black, I added some Fog card stock to the inside which I die cut using one of the dies from the Slim Diagonal Stitched Rectangle set and stamped a few more images. I colored the candy corn on the inside and left the rest uncolored.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!

Jingle All The Way… To the New Release

It’s another new release at Simon Says Stamp!!! It’s called Make Merry and you and get there by clicking HERE or scrolling down to the bottom of this post. All I want to do is make Christmas cards now!! What a beautiful release this is!! I LOVE seeing all of the holiday goodies and I couldn’t wait to place my order.

I know I’m a little bit late sharing this, life gets in the way sometimes but I did make a card and I’m excited to share it with you.

I used the Good Cheer stamp set from the new release to make this card. I also used Chunky Christmas and the Large Falling Snow stencil.

To start out I took a piece of Sea Glass card stock and used a slimline die called Slim Diagonal Stitched Rectangle to cut it to size. Then I took the trees from the Chunky Christmas stamp set and the ‘Jingle All the Way’ from the Good Cheer stamp set and heat embossed them with Silver Hologram Sparkle. I didn’t like it on the ‘Jingle All the Way’ so I heat embossed it again but this time with silver embossing powder.

I ink blended Peacock Feathers and Chipped Sapphire distress oxide inks around the edges. I then used my Faber Castell Polychromos colored pencils and colored in the Jingle with a few pink pencils.

I still didn’t like the way the ‘All the Way’ portion of the sentiment looked so I decided to heat emboss it one more time only this time I did it on black card stock with white embossing powder. Third time is a charm!! I loved the contrast that this provided. I popped it up with a couple black foam squares to add some dimension.

Once I was happy with the coloring, I went over it with my glitter pen to add a little extra sparkle. I used the Large Falling Snow stencil by Simon Says Stamp and some embossing paste and added a nice light layer of snow.

I added a few Silver Pearls for an embellishment.

To finish off my card, I added my card front to a top folding card base measuring 8.5″ x 3.5″.

Below is a list of all of the products I used to make this card and right below that is the entire new release by Simon Says Stamp. You gotta check it out, there’s so many awesome stamps and dies and stencils in this release!! Happy Shopping, my friends!!

I’m also entering this into this week’s Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge #160.

Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week the challenge is

Make It Sparkle

We are showcasing Stamping Bella Products this week.

I’m in love with this image by Stamping Bella called Curvy Girl With a Diamond. Isn’t she just beautiful? I started out by stamping her on X-Press It Blending Card so that I could color her with my Copic Markers. While I still had her in my Misti, I stamped her again only this time I only stamped the diamond and I stamped it on a piece of the Holographic card stock by Simon Says Stamp.

I accidentally stamped it using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink because that’s what I used to stamp my girl but I quickly realized that the Memento ink wasn’t going to stick so I stamped it again using StazOn Jet Black Ink. Then I fussy cut the diamond out.

I colored her with my Copic Markers. I’ve listed the colors that I used below. Once she was colored, I fussy cut her out as well.

Copic Markers Used:

Skin: E00, E11, E13, R20, R30

Hair: E51, E55, E57

Dress: R81, R83, R85, V000, V01

Flowers: R81, R85, YR00, YR01, G46, G43, Y19

I quickly glued my fussy cut diamond in place because I couldn’t wait to see how it was going to look once it was put together. I immediately loved it!!

I chose a patterned paper for my background from the Moda Scrap paper pack called Let Your Soul Bloom. It’s so pretty and I thought it was perfect for this card. I die cut the patterned paper using a Stitched Rectangle Die.

For my sentiment I used two from the Clean Line Everyday stamp set by Simon Says Stamp and CZ Design. I heat embossed them on black card stock with Alabaster White Embossing Powder. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut my sentiments out.

I added some craft foam to the back of the patterned paper and attached it to an A2 size piece of Rose Gold Glitter card stock using Scor Tape. I find the scor tape works really well with glitter card stock. For everything else I used liquid glue.

I adhered everything to a side folding card base. I attached a little piece of craft foam behind the diamond that hangs off of the card stock because I’m going to be mailing this across the US. For a finishing touch, I used my Spectrum Noir glitter pen on the flowers and the ruffles of her dress and then my card was ready to be mailed.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!
