The Boo Crew

Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week the challenge is

Make a Card + Envelope

We are showcasing our very own Simon Says Stamp Exclusive Products this week.  If you have any of these products, we’d love to see them used, but it’s certainly not a requirement to join the challenge.

As always, the generous folks at Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a $25 voucher to one randomly selected winner to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store.  You can enter 5 times which means you can make 5 different projects following this week’s prompt and have 5 chances to win a shopping spree!! Sounds like a win/win to me!! I’ve linked all of the supplies that I used at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

Halloween is going to be so different this year. I usually get our street closed down and we pass out candy to half of the population of our little town but this year… will be different. Everyone that I’ve talked to is not passing out candy this year, including us. It’s not worth the risk. But since we aren’t passing out candy, I decided to make a few Halloween cards this year. I usually don’t make any for Halloween but I wanted to feel that Halloween spirit one way or another.

I’ve never done an envelope before. I mean, I’ve stamped a couple things on the outside but never have I ever gone to this length to decorate an envelope. I loved it!! Now if only I could address it in a beautiful calligraphy or hand lettering. Hopefully someday!! For starters, I cut a piece of Bristol Smooth card stock using a Wonky Stitched Rectangle die and then I started ink blending Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch and Black Soot distress oxide inks. I set that aside to dry.

Once it was dry, I splattered water on it with my Distress Sprayer and to add a little extra sparkle, I flicked on Lawn Fawn’s Liquid Stardust. I set that aside and moved on to the grass. I ink blended Forest Moss and Peeled Paint distress inks and cut out the shape of hills using a hill die from my stash. I made sure to cut the bottom with the Wonky Stitched Rectangle die so that it would match the top part of the card.

Next I moved on to the coloring. I colored all of my images from The Boo Crew stamp set with my copic markers, including the Boo Crew sentiment. Then I fussy cut everything out. I didn’t leave a white border around my images so I took my Black Memento Marker and drew around all of the edges of each image.

Next I heat embossed the second part of my sentiment with white embossing powder and popped both up on some black foam squares. Before putting everything together, I heat embossed the spider and spiderweb (also from The Boo Crew stamp set) with black embossing powder.

Lastly I glued everything together and added a few bats for good measure. I was ready to move on to the envelope. I really wanted to use all of the adorable trick or treater’s in this set, but I didn’t want my card to be too crowded so the few that I didn’t use on the card, I used on the front of the envelope.

I used a white Simon Says Stamp slimline envelope and I added a piece of scrap bristol card stock to the inside of the envelope so that all of the coloring wouldn’t go through. First I stamped all of my images and then I masked them off with masking paper.

I ink blended the same colors that I used on my card. I removed the masking paper and copic colored my images. The envelope was a little difficult to color on only because I’m so used to using only copic friendly card stock. But it was nothing to be concerned about. It still turned out so adorable!! To finish them both off, I added some Aqua Shimmer Pen on both ghosts and a few of the witches accessories. This was my best attempt at photographing the glitter.

Since my card base is black, I added some Fog card stock to the inside which I die cut using one of the dies from the Slim Diagonal Stitched Rectangle set and stamped a few more images. I colored the candy corn on the inside and left the rest uncolored.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!
