One Stencil, Five Cards

Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week the challenge is

Anything Goes

We are showcasing Pink and Main Products this week.  If you have any of these products, we’d love to see them used, but it’s certainly not a requirement to join the challenge.

As always, the generous folks at Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a $25 voucher to one randomly selected winner to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store.  You can enter 5 times which means you can make 5 different projects following this week’s prompt and have 5 chances to win a shopping spree!! Sounds like a win/win to me!! I’ve linked all of the supplies that I used at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

I used the Bubbly Waves Stencil by Pink and Main to make 2 backgrounds and I ended up making 5 cards out of it, using the negatives as well. I used Deco Foil Transfer Gel over the stencil and let it dry.

Using my Minc Machine (or a laminator), I ran the card stock with the dried transfer gel on it and Deco Foil Rainbow Shattered Glass Transfer Sheet through the Minc machine and got this beautiful rainbow background. I set the negative aside for my next card. The Hello is from the stamp set Hello Lovely by Concord and 9th, which I white heat embossed on black card stock. I popped it up using Simon’s 3D Foam Squares. But I can’t for the life of me figure out where this Friend die came from or who makes it so if you know, PLEASE comment below and let me know. I would be forever grateful.

This card has so much color that I didn’t want to add any more so I added a subtle touch of color by die cutting the friend using several colorful card stocks and stacking them together. I used Doll Pink, Orange Peel, Banana Yellow, Island Blue and Royal Purple. I think it gives it a little something special without being overpowering.

I trimmed the panel down to 3.5″ x 4.75″ using one of my A2 Layers die by Waffle Flower. I used this size so that I could also create a black border and still have it framed in white. The black card stock is trimmed to 4″ x 5.5″. To finish this card off, I attached it to a top folding card base and went over the word friend with my Aqua Shimmer Pen.

I stretched the negative to give me two additional cards by cutting the A2 size panel diagonally. I had this really cool crocodile skin black card stock in my stash (I think from an old Simon Says Stamp Card Kit) so I also cut this diagonally.

To bring the two halves together I cut a thin strip of Silver Glitter card stock and glued it at the seam. I used the Happy Birthday Brush Script die to finish this card off. I popped the sentiment up using Black 3D Foam Squares. To add a little more dimension, I die cut the HB 3 times and glued them together.

I attached everything to a top folding card base.

For this second half, I die cut the Thanks On a Line die three times and stacked them.

I wanted to leave the white half nice and simple so I just added a few Onyx Crystals.

For my second background, I did the same as the first only this time I used a Pewter Transfer Sheet. I trimmed it to a square using a stitched square die.

I used the Dude die and Slate Gray card stock for my sentiment. I popped the panel up using craft foam and attached to a top folding black card base.

For my 5th and final card I used the negative from the pewter panel and cut it to a circle using my Nested Circle die. I cut a panel of Fog Gray card stock with the same A2 Layers die as above and embossed it with the Dibble Dot Embossing Folder. I learned the hard way to die cut first, then emboss. I did it in reverse and as soon as I ran it through my Gemini, it flattened the embossed background. I knew better, I guess I just wasn’t paying attention. I popped the embossed panel up using some craft foam and attached it to just under A2 size black background. I wanted just a thin layer of white around the entire card.

My sentiment is the same font as the “Friend” above so again, I have no idea who makes it or what it’s called. It may have came as a set, Hello Friend. I only think this because the “E’s” are exactly the same. I used my Poppin Pink Electro Pop ink pad and inked white card stock. Then I cut the word Hello out of the inked card stock. I repeated this process one more time. For my third layer, I cut the Hello out of white card stock and offset it a bit so you can see the white layer as well. The shadow part of the die I cut it out of vellum. I went over the pink with my Aqua Shimmer Pen to add a little sparkle. The 2nd part of my sentiment is from the Hello You stamp set. To finish my card off, I added a few Iridescent Tiny Bubbles.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!

Spooky Boo Crew

Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week the challenge is

Spooky

We are showcasing our very own Simon Says Stamp Products this week.

I don’t make Halloween cards too often so I was super excited to get to use this little gem again. This is The Boo Crew stamp set by Simon Says Stamp.

I colored all of my images with my copic markers on XPress It Copic Blending Card. Then I used my silhouette to cut out this spooky tree twice and layered them to give it a touch of dimension.

I used Bristol Smooth card stock for my card base since I knew I was going to be ink blending and I cut it to 5″x7″. For my background I ink blended Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Fired Brick and Black Soot distress oxide inks. I splattered water, Black Soot, White Gouache and a little Liquid Stardust for a little sparkle. I cut out a circle with my Nested Circles dies from masking paper to mask off a moon.

For the grass I ink blended Peeled Paint, Forest Moss and Black Soot distress oxide inks. I cut the grass twice using my Slimline Grassy Border die by Lawn Fawn. I also splattered the grass with water and Black Soot. I popped up the front panel of grass with foam tape.

Once I pulled the mask off, I smooshed Squeezed Lemonade and Iced Spruce distress inks with some water on my media mat and painted the moon. For some finishing touches, I stamped a few bats and I heat embossed the spiderweb and spider with black embossing powder. I also heat embossed the second portion of the sentiment with white embossing powder on black card stock.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!

Gnome Home

Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week the challenge is

Fall Colors

We are showcasing Colorado Craft Co. Products this week.

Our challenge is Fall Colors and we had this gorgeous mood board to inspire us.

I LOVE the aqua and the violet in the mood board combined with the oranges, it’s just gorgeous!

The stamp set that I used is so adorable!! It’s called Gnome Home by Colorado Craft Co. This card is pretty self explanatory but I’ll just break it down quickly.

I colored the images with my copic markers. The mood board for this challenge was so much fun. I love the traditional fall colors with that beautiful pop of teal or aqua. I had fun with this challenge because I wouldn’t have necessarily chosen these particular colors, if it weren’t for the mood board so it kinda pushed me out of my comfort zone.

I cut my images out with the coordinating dies and set them aside.

I used the Grassy Edges stencil by Simon Says Stamp and ink blended a grassy border right on my card base. I used Mowed Lawn and Rustic Wilderness distress oxide inks.

I used the Mini Cloud Edges stencil by MFT to create a little sky with Peacock Feathers distress oxide ink. I wanted to get as much aqua in my scene as I could since that’s my favorite color.

I decided to add a turquoise border as well just to add more of that beautiful color. I used the largest Stitched Rectangle Frame from Lawn Fawn for my frame. I die cut it three times and layered them to frame in my scene.

I used one of the sentiments from the same stamp set and then I adhered everything to my top folding card base. I also popped up the little gnome a bit with a few 3D Foam Squares to add a little dimension. To add some sparkle, I went over all of the violet areas with a Nuvo Aqua Shimmer pen.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!

If you haven’t arrived here from Jean’s blog, then you can start at the Simon Says Stamp Blog and work your way around. Your next stop will be Diane Morales who is also a fellow design team member of the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog.

Ok, so now let me share with you what I created! I’ve also created a video tutorial for your viewing pleasure.

I used the Batty For You stamp set. This is such a cool set because if you get the coordinating dies, you can make the wings flap! I didn’t have the die but I’ll show you how I made it work anyway.

I started out by making my backgrounds. I didn’t have the Circle Masks Stencil so I had to create my own. I have stencil material on hand so I just used one of my circle dies and cut out a circle. I ink blended distress oxide inks on an A2 size panel of Bristol Smooth card stock.

I ink blended Twisted Citron, Peeled Paint, Rustic Wilderness and Black Soot. Then I splattered water and black paint onto my background.

For the orange background I blended Carved Pumpkin, Ripe Persimmon and Black Soot. I also splattered this background with water and black paint and then I decided to emboss this orange background with the Kaleidoscope embossing folder just to add a different element. I set both background aside and started in on my bats.

So when you purchase the coordinating dies, you’ll also get instructions on how to put the bats together. I stamped the bat and wings twice and then an extra “body silhouette” as the instructions say to do for each bat. I colored each bat the same with my copic markers and fussy cut out all the pieces. Then I went around the edge of all pieces with a Memento Tuxedo Black marker to hide any imperfections in my fussy cutting.

I took the silhouette body and I measured 2cm across the chest which looked to be about where the holes would be if I had the die. I punched the holes into the silhouette.

I overlapped the wings using the silhouette as my guide and pierced a hole directly in the center of the wings where they were layered and what appeared to be the center of the silhouette. Then I swapped the wings to the back of the silhouette and since I had my holes in the silhouette, I simply drew a circle or marked the spot through the holes on the silhouette onto the wings directly behind the silhouette so I knew where to puncture the holes on the wings.

I layered the wings on top of each other to match up the center holes and then I looped some string through.

I placed the wings on top of the silhouette and attached the outer holes on the wing with the holes on the silhouette using black brads. The nice thing about getting the coordinating dies is you also receive 50 small brads.

I made sure the brads were loose enough for the wings to move around freely and then I tied a little knot in the string, also loose enough for the wings to move so that the wings wouldn’t try separating when I pulled or pushed the string.

I then took some foam squares and doubled them up so they were a bit higher and I placed them in areas of the silhouette body where they wouldn’t interfere with the wing movement. I’m not sure if it was because I didn’t have the dies or because my string was not stiff enough but in order to be able to push my string to get the wings to come back down, I decided to add a little hot glue on the string, below where I tied my knot, to make my string more firm.

Once I was happy with my working mechanism, I adhered the second body on top of the foam squares. I trimmed my ink blended panel down to 4″x5.25″ and attached it to a black A2 panel and then attached the entire panel to a side folding white card base. The green card I trimmed down a tad more so that I could have a white border around the black panel. Before attaching the bats to my backgrounds, I added one more layer of foam squares on the back of the whole bat so that the wings would come off the card a bit. Both sentiments are also from the Batty For You stamp set. I added a few Onyx Crystals on both cards and called it a day!

That’s it for me! I just want to thank you again for hopping along. You’re almost done. Don’t forget to leave a comment at each stop to increase your chances of winning a $25 gift card to Simon Says Stamp and be sure to check out Simon’s Galleries where you’ll find all kinds of inspiration.

Take care ~

Cozy Hugs Release

Welcome to the latest New Release by Simon Says Stamp called Cozy Hugs!! The name of this release just makes me want to cuddle up with a blanket and a cup of hot chocolate and shop at my favorite one stop shop. You can either click on the picture above to be taken to the entire release or click HERE.

How adorable is this bat?? Not only is he adorable, but his wings flap!! I used the stamp set called Batty For You to make this card. Tune into the blog hop tomorrow and Saturday and I’ll show you how I made the bat.

Unfortunately I didn’t have the die but I had the instructions so I was able to make it work. I’m definitely getting the die though, it would have been easier and would’ve saved me some time, if I had had the coordinating dies.

The stamp set has a couple different sets of eyes which is fun so you can change the expression on your bats face.

I know it’s hard to tell from the photos, but I distressed the edges of my card panel. That’s it for today, but don’t forget to check out the two day blog hop that is happening and it starts tomorrow!! There will be tons of inspiration, as always. You can start at the Simon Says Stamp blog. We’ll chat again on Saturday ~

Happy Birthday Gnomie

Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week the challenge is

Fun With Washi

We are showcasing Doodlebug Designs Products this week.

This card was super easy to make. I started out with a piece of X-Press It Copic Blending card and I copic colored this adorable image from the Oh Gnome stamp set by Simon Says Stamp. I cut it down to a small rectangle using the second to the largest die in the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangle dies.

I had just enough room to add a strip of Rainbow Hearts Washi Tape at the top and Hello Sunshine Washi Tape (both by Doodlebug) at the bottom of my panel.

I took a piece of Lemon Chiffon card stock and using the largest die from the Waffle Flower Nesting Diamonds die, I ran it through my die cutting machine. Next I took a piece of black card stock and cut out the Fab Floral Pinpoint Plate die by Simon Says Stamp. I popped the colored panel up a bit using some craft foam.

I stamped my sentiment from the same Oh Gnome stamp set and cut it out using the smallest Nesting Rounded Rectangles die by Hero Arts and popped that up with some foam squares.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!
