Two-fer

Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week the challenge is

Anything Goes

We are showcasing Riley and Company Products this week.  If you have any of these products, we’d love to see them used, but it’s certainly not a requirement to join the challenge.

As always, the generous folks at Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a $25 voucher to one randomly selected winner to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store.  You can enter 5 times which means you can make 5 different projects following this week’s prompt and have 5 chances to win a shopping spree!! Sounds like a win/win to me!! I’ve linked all of the supplies that I used at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

I’ve got two cards to share today. I couldn’t decide which direction I wanted to go with this challenge so I made two different cards using the same sentiment. For my first card I used an old die that I didn’t realize wasn’t available anymore Diamond Pattern die by Simon Says Stamp and popped it up using some foam squares.

For the background I used the Aqua Holographic card stock by Simon Says Stamp and attached it to a side folding card base.

The sentiment is from Riley and Co. and it’s called Relax, You’re Not Getting Old. I white heat embossed it on a piece of black card stock and cut it out using an old die by MFT.

To finish her off, I added a few Teal Ocean Pearls by Studio Katia.

For my next card, I thought it would be kinda funny to have a lovely, peaceful, serene background and then this snarky comment coming from left field. They’re polar opposites of each other. I liked this idea because if i were to give this card to someone, at least the background is still bright and cheery and let’s the recipient know I’m only joking..

For this card I took a piece of A2 cut Lemon Chiffon Yellow card stock and die cut it using the Sunburst die by Simon. I ink blended Wild Honey and Squeezed Lemonade on the sunburst and attached it to another A2 piece of Lemon Chiffon card stock.

I added some splatters using my splatter brush and White Gouache and one of the pearlescent golds in the Finetec Mica Pearlescent Watercolor set. I love the way the gold shimmers in the light.

I used Audrey Blue card stock for my sentiment background and also the trim. The trim is one of the Stitched Rectangle Trimmings from Memory Box. I white heat embossed the same sentiment and cut it out using one of the Chunky A2 Scalloped Rectangles die by Simon. I popped the sentiment up on some foam squares for a little dimension.

For an embellishment I added a few Apricot Glacé Pearls by Studio Katia.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!

Healing Hugs

Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week the challenge is

CAS (Clean & Simple)

We are showcasing Hero Arts Products this week.

Ok, so as you can probably see I struggle with clean and simple cards. I ALWAYS want to fill the empty space!! I’m not even sure if this can be categorized as CAS, but it’s the best I’ve got. I will say, however that it was super easy to make. I’ve been dying to use my new Gemini Foil Press so I had to make it work. I started out on a piece of Sea Glass card stock and foil pressed the Intricate Floral Background foil plate. How gorgeous is this foil plate??? I am absolutely in love!!

I used the Healing Hugs die by Simon Says Stamp and die cut it several times. I used Neenah 110 lb. card stock for the shadow die which I cut only once but then I used this beautiful card stock by Tonic Studios called Honey Gold to die cut the top layer. In order to give my sentiment some dimension, I die cut the top die two more times using Neenah 110 lb. card stock and glued them all together using Bearly Art glue, which is my new favorite go to glue.

I cut my beautiful background down by die cutting it with one of the many Rounded Rectangle Infinity dies by Hero Arts. This die comes with SIXTEEN different sizes!! I love getting a bang for my buck and this die certainly… bangs? Well, you know what I mean.

I used another one of the Rounded Rectangle dies to cut out a slightly smaller piece of craft foam so I could pop my panel up a smidge. I attached everything to a top folding A2 card base. And because I couldn’t just leave it at that, I had to add this adorable little heart that is also part of the Healing Hearts die set by Simon. To finish it off, I covered the heart with some Nuvo Crystal Glaze to make it nice and shiny just like my beautiful foiled background.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!

Hello Summer

Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week the challenge is

Add a Sentiment

We are showcasing Newton’s Nook Products this week.

Ok, so I’m a tad late on this challenge, but 5 days in the hospital kinda set me back a bit so I’m cutting myself some slack. I had this card half way done so I figured I might as well finish it. Plus, I love Newton’s Nook and I love how it turned out so all in all, I’m happy to share it with you.

I started out with a piece of Bristol Smooth card stock. I used one of the two stencils in the Retro Sun and Palms stencil from Newton’s Nook and I ink blended the sunset. I love that this is in the shape of a circle, it totally reminds me of something I’d see on a t-shirt or something from the 80’s. I used distress oxides starting with Squeezed Lemonade, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry and Dusty Concord. The stencil also comes with a second stencil of palm trees and a few birds, but I decided to use a stamp set instead. I used Paradise Palms, also by Newton’s Nook because I wanted to heat emboss the palm trees and I wanted to use these tiny birds.

I didn’t want the palm trees to go outside of my circle so I used a circle die by Simon and cut out a circle using Gina K Masking Magic. It wasn’t quite the same size but I made it work by tearing open the top of the masked circle and lining it up the best I could with the bottom of my ink blended circle.

This stencil is really cool because it has indentations on the 1st stencil so that you can line it up either vertically or horizontally and have it perfectly centered on an A2 sized card stock. I love that some companies are doing this. Maybe it’s not a new thing, but it’s new to me.

I stamped the palm trees with Onyx Black Versafine ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I stamped the small flock of birds from the Paradise Palms stamp set using the same versafine ink but decided not to heat emboss them. I trimmed my panel down to 4″ x 5.25″ and attached it to a piece of teal card stock that I had in my card stock stash.

Once my background was done, it was time to move on to the sentiment. I used the “Summer” die from an old Simon Says Stamp set called Four Seasons Sayings stamp set and die. I die cut it 3 times using some more of that teal card stock. I’ve been so excited to use the new micro dot sheets by Simon Says Stamp on my thin die cuts and it worked beautifully! Why hadn’t anyone thought of this sooner? I always struggle with intricate dies and how to glue them without making a mess and I’ve tried everything!! I did have to glue a couple of spots, but overall it was a lot less messy and so easy to adhere. Once my 3 layers were glued together, I used a Nuvo Aqua Shimmer pen to give it some sparkle and then went over the whole thing with Nuvo Crystal Glaze to really add the shine.

I used the “Hello” stamp from the Four Seasons Sayings stamp set which I don’t think is available any longer, but there are many stamp sets with the word Hello. I added a few Bora Bora pearls by Studio Katia and attached everything to a top folding card base.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!

I’m Coming Out of Retirement

Hello crafty friends!! Welcome to my blog. After taking over a YEAR off due to health problems, I’m FINALLY back in my craft room!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week the challenge is

Bright and Cheerful

We are showcasing Simon Says Stamp Products this week.

I can’t even tell you how good it felt to get back in my craft room. I’ve taken basically the last two years off from card making because my health has been so pour. I’ll spare you the gory details, but let’s just say that ulcerative colitis and all the problems that come with it are truly horrific. It’s amazing that I’m still alive. So recently I felt well enough to make a couple of cards and I’d like to share them with you.

It’s a miracle that I even got this posted because I had to relearn everything. And when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING!! I couldn’t remember how to type a blog post or edit photos or even take photos for that matter so please, bare with me while I find my bearings.

I started this card out by ink blending a rainbow background on Bristol Smooth Cardstock with distress oxide inks. I used Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, Salvaged Patina and Wilted Violet. Speaking of distress oxides, there’s NEW OXIDES on the market!! And of course I had to have them. I just recently purchased Salvaged Patina, (which is a beautiful teal color) Kitsch Flamingo (a lovely addition to the pinks), Saltwater Taffy (which is more of a peachy color and I love it) and Rustic Wilderness, which I have yet to use. I can’t wait to play with them all. Am I missing any? I told you, I’ve been in a bunker for the past two years!! Well, not really but it sure feels like it.

When my background was dry, I used a stencil by SSS called Reversed Hearts and Moonstone Glimmer Paste by Nuvo to create this lovely background. I trimmed it down to 4″x5.25″ and added it to a white side folding card base.

Keeping this card nice and simple, I used the Happy Birthday Brush Script die (also by Simon) for my sentiment and cut the shadow layer out with black card stock and I layered the white layer three times to give it some dimension. I found the best glue to use on these thin dies is called Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue. I tried several others but they all kinda spludged out the sides.

To finish her off, I added some pearls by Studio Katia called Hibiscus and Amethyst Pearls. I matched my card with a Doll Pink envelope and my card was complete. By the way I want to say a Big Happy Birthday to my sister Sabrina, who’s Birthday inspired me to make this card. She’s dealing with health issues of her own so I wanted to brighten her day. Thank you so much for stopping by to check out what I’ve created for this week’s Wednesday Challenge. I sure hope to hear from you all again next week ~

Fun With Foil

Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week the challenge is

Make Your Own Background

We are showcasing Brutus Monroe Products this week.

I love playing with foil. I used Brutus Monroe Purple Sketch Deco Foil for my background.

I started off with a piece of black card stock and Lavender card stock. I used Deco Foil transfer gel with my Reverse Hearts stencil and set them aside to dry. Once they were dry, I used my mini minc machine to transfer the Brutus Monroe Purple Sketch Deco Foil onto my card stock.

Once they were cool to the touch, I used one of Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Rectangle dies to both backgrounds to give them a nice stitched border.

I used the gorgeous Holographic card stock and cut out my sentiment which is the You Are Loved die by Simon Says Stamp. I used black card stock as the shadow die. I attached it to a side folding card base and I was done! Easy Peazy.

For my next card, I did the same process only this time I used the Chunky Happy and Chunky Birthday dies for my sentiment.

Instead of the holographic card stock, I used Lavender and Black Card stock.

I attached it to a matching lavender side folding card base and I was done with card number two!! Sounds fairly easy, right? Well, that’s because it was! I think it took me maybe an hour to make both cards. The most time consuming part was gluing all of the letters in place.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!

Holiday Friends

Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week the challenge is

Christmas Critters

We are showcasing Mama Elephant Products this week.

Happy Holidays my dear friends!!! This might be my last post for a couple of weeks so I wanted to go out with a bang. I’ve got ongoing health issues that now require me to be hospitalized for awhile so I’m not sure when I’ll be back. But I wanted to say Happy, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Happy New Year and all that good stuff before I go. I’m so thankful that you actually take the time to ready my posts and view my cards, it means a lot to me.

I decided to make not 1 but FOUR cards this week featuring these adorable winter friends from Mama Elephant. I hope you enjoy them and have a very safe Holiday!!

I used the Mama Elephant Fuzzy Hugs stamp set to create my cards this week. For this card, I lightly ink blended a background on Bristol Smooth Card stock with Speckled Egg Distress Oxide ink. I wanted to keep my cards mostly white this week. I think it makes the red really pop. I colored these cuties with my copic markers.

Using a Forest Border die by Lawn Fawn, I cut my background trees out of this beautiful Pixie Dust Sparkle card stock. The Merry die is also from Mama Elephant I found it in my stash today.

I used Mama Elephant’s All Prettied Up Creative Cuts die for my card front and an oval die in the center.

I attached everything to a side folding white card base and added a few Arctic Breeze Pearls as an embellishment.

I used the Basic Set Creative Cuts die for this next card. And then I ink blended Milled Lavender Distress Oxide ink for the background.

I used Simon Says Stamp’s Fa La La die and some silver glitter card stock for my sentiment. I thought the Drifting Stitches Borders die would be a perfect backdrop for these little love bears. And since it’s a Christmas card, I had to add a little bit of chunky glitter to my snowy hills.

I colored these love bugs with copic markers and added a little Unicorn Confetti Glitter to the puff ball on his/her hat. I attached everything to a side folding card base.

To finish it off, I added a few of my favorite Arctic Breeze Pearls.

I used Peacock Feathers for a light ink blend on this one. The sentiment is from the same Fuzzy Friends stamp set. I used the Large Falling Snow Stencil and some texture paste to add a little snow fall. I added a little warm glow to the top of these bears so that the light from the lamp post would reflect off of them.

Once again I used the Basic Set Creative Cuts for this card and attached everything to a top folding card base.

For my final card, I used the All Prettied Up die again and ink blended Blueprint Sketch for my background.

I also used the Merry die by Simon Says Stamp and some Ruby Red Mirror Card to make that sentiment pop. I thought it would be fun to add a little snow a different way so I just used a glue pen and placed dots of glue here and there and then poured some Unicorn Confetti glitter all over it.

I attached everything to a top folding card base and added a few Arctic Breeze Pearls to finish it off.

now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!

I think these cutie patootie bears and the stitched den dies are made for each other! Well, they probably are, but I totally understand why. It’s so cute!! I wish I had more room for a few of the other accessories in the stamp set, but I just couldn’t use them all. I added a few to the inside just to liven it up a bit.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!

Die-Cember is Here

Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week the challenge is

Fun With a Die

DieCember® is a very special month in the Simon Says Stamp calendar and this week we are showcasing some of the new release of DieCember® Craft Dies and previous release dies! If you have any Simon Says Stamp Dies we would love to see them used. You can view the entire new release by clicking any of my links above or just scroll down to the bottom of this post.

I made several cards using this new Hello die by Simon Says Stamp and CZ Design. It’s always good to have a card or two on hand just to send someone to say hello and I really like this new hello die with a matching shadow die. Plus I had my stencils out anyway so I had a little fun with it.

I used Nuvo Glacier Paste in Sea Sprite for the first three cards. I had never used this paste before and I LOVE it!! It’s so pretty and shiny. I took a piece of Midnight Green card stock and my Tumbling Leaves Stencil and created this beautiful background. Next I cut the top layer of the hello die out three times and stacked them together to get a little dimension. I used another piece of that midnight green card stock for the shadow die. I cut my card front out using a Nesting Rounded Rectangle Infinity die by Hero Arts and attached it all to a top folding card base.

I repeated my background on a piece of Onyx Black Pearlescent card stock by Tonic Studios. For the sentiment, I used my Mini Minc Machine to foil that top layer. I cut an additional two layers out of plain black card stock to get that dimension. I attached everything to a top folding black card base.

For my next card, I thought I’d change up the stencil so I used the Geometric Arcs stencil by Simon Says Stamp.

Everything else was the same except I used plain black card stock as the background.

Look how beautiful that shine is!! The Nuvo Glacier Paste and the sage colored foil go very well together.

For my last card I wanted to try out some texture paste so I mixed a little Speckled Egg Distress Paint and some Crackle Distress Texture Paste and created this fun background.

I used the In the Round Stencil and sat back in amazement as this dried. I just think it’s so cool how that crackle paste works!! It looks awesome!! I used a SSS circle die to cut out just a portion because I wanted to keep this super simple. I used a Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle die and a piece of 110 lb. Neenah Solar White card stock to cut out my background layer and attached it to a side folding card base. I also popped the circle up on some craft foam so I had to attached a few black foam squares to the bottom of the sentiment so that it was level with my circle.

To finish off this card, I added a few Nuvo Jewel Drops in Sea Breeze as a little embellishment.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!

Foxy Slimline

Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week the challenge is

Anything Goes

We are showcasing Penny Black Products this week.

How adorable is this little fox with his scarf? I love him!! The mouse is from an older Penny Black stamp set called Jolly Friends. The fox and the tree sold me on this stamp set though, it’s called Snowfield Friends. There’s just something about Charlie Brown Christmas trees that gets me all nostalgic. And I couldn’t wait to use this chunky glitter by Simon Says Stamp called Unicorn Confetti so this card came together very easy for me this week.

I haven’t been able to make any Christmas cards yet this year so I was super excited that we had an Anything Goes challenge this week. Last week’s challenge was Christmas but unfortunately I couldn’t participate thanks to my ongoing health problems so I knew right away what kind of card I was going to make this week. I hope you like it and I hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving!!

Thanksgiving Slimline

Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week the challenge is

Thanks/Thanksgiving

We are showcasing Pink Fresh Studio Products this week.

Happy Fall Y’all!! It’s been a couple weeks since I’ve been able to make a card. I had yet another health scare. You guys should know that if I don’t post every week, then I’m having health problems. Plain and simple. I’ve been feeling great since my last surgery in June up until about 2 weeks ago. I just started to feel like I was dehydrated, which happens all the time. I go in for fluids and I’m good to go. But they always do blood work just in case and this time my blood work came back not so good. My kidneys aren’t functioning properly and my sodium is super low, even though I was going in every other day for a bag of fluids. So of course, they shipped me down to the San Francisco Emergency Room because they just don’t know what to do with me up here. Long story short, we’re keeping an eye on it. They don’t know why it’s happening. I have malabsorption problems so that could be it but we don’t know for sure. But I’m feeling better and I was starting to dream about crafting again so I knew it was time to get back in my craft room and create.

I don’t usually make Thanksgiving cards. I love the Autumn colors, but I always have a hard time creating something Fall-ish for some reason but I decided to just go for it this week.

For this card, I started out with a piece of Arches Cold Press Watercolor paper and I had purchased the PinkFresh Studio Slim Diagonal Stitched Rectangles die to use for this challenge but I could not find it for the life of me so I ended up using the Wonky Stitched Wilderness die by Trinity Stamps. I took the Thanks Autumn stamp set and I heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. Then I masked off the right side of the image and embossed it again so that it would fill the entire background.

I used some color burst powders that I had in my stash to color this beautiful image. I took some gold watercolor paint and splattered it all over the background along with a dark brown.

I had this gorgeous blue embossing powder in my collection that I thought would pair perfectly with these Autumn colors so I heat embossed it on a scrap piece of vellum and then cut it out with the largest of the sentiment labels die.

I took some double sided adhesive strips and placed it on the back of each letter so it would stay nice and smoothly popped up but hidden from view.

I added a few golden sequins and added a little Honey Gold Glitter Nuvo Drops in each center. I attached my card front to a Soft Navy background and attached it to a top folding card base. I used Neenah Desert Storm 100 lb. card stock for my base.

I still wanted to use Pink Fresh Studios so I used the Hugs and Good Vibes stamp set and stamped the envelope so that it reads, “Sending you a big hug with a fold in the middle.” I love that!! That sentiment is the reason I bought this stamp set.

So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!
