Fun With Dies

I love working with dies so I loved this challenge. A good die can really make a card shine. I had so much fun putting my cute little vehicle together. The die is called Carpool by MFT. Once I had my vehicle put together, I set it aside.

I used stamps from my stash and I colored them with my copic markers.

I decided to pop up just the trees from my background stamp so since the tree trunks are so thin, I stamped the image on my card base as well so that when popped up, you can see the same image underneath my popped up trees and not just my foam adhesive strips. I hope that makes sense… The grass and trees are all one image but only the trees are dimensional.

I also added dimension to my car. For the sky I used an MFT stencil called Mini Clouds Edge and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide Ink with a little Peacock Feathers towards the top.

My sentiment is from Simon’s Sentiment Strips Bold Birthday Acetate and I foiled it with Pink Melon to match my bus/van.

I used some Crystal Glaze to add some shine to the heart and the headlights and then I used my Aqua Shimmer Pen to add some sparkle to the steering wheel and also the headlights. How cute are these little mice carpooling? I love them.

Summertime Blues

We are showcasing My Favorite Things Products this week. If you have any of these products, we’d love to see them used, but it’s certainly not a requirement to join the challenge.

I definitely have the summertime blues. My son goes back to school next Wednesday and it feels like summer just started!! When I was in school, we didn’t go back until after Labor Day and I liked it that way. I know they get more week long breaks during the year so it does balance out, but it sure feels like I blinked and summer was over. Anyway, let’s get to it. I created the background first for this card because I wasn’t quite sure if I was going to like it or not and I knew it was going to have to be set aside to dry. I used several alcohol inks in blues and greens and aquas on Yupo paper. I’ve listed them all below in my products used list.

I set my background aside to dry and then I started coloring all of these adorable images from MFT’s Reel-y Great Day stamp set with my copic markers. I stamped them on X-Press It Copic Blending Card with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

I used Neenah Desert Storm 110 lb. card stock for the background and then I cut my alcohol inked background with an old Avery Elle die which is no longer available but a very close second is the border dies from Lawn Fawn’s Simple Stitched Hillside Borders die. I glued the yupo paper to the top of my desert storm card stock using my favorite Bearly Art Craft Glue.

I took a couple different brown copic markers and I peppered the desert storm card stock to try and make it resemble sand or gravel. Then I decide to take a little white gouache and a makeup sponge and try and make the waters edge look foamy. Like you’d see at the ocean’s edge. I like the way it turned out, I only wish I would’ve added another layer once it was dry. Next time. I popped a couple of my colored images up with adhesive squares (large and small) and then I started gluing everything in place.

For my sentiment I took another piece of desert storm card stock and I white heat embossed it. I cut it out using an old MFT fishtail banner die. I attached my card panel onto a top folding card base.

I can’t believe it’s already almost Halloween!! I’m not ready for the colder weather yet. But it was fun to make a Halloween card this week, before the Christmas cards start pouring out.

I started out on some Bristol Smooth card stock and ink blended Squeezed Lemonade and Barn Door distress oxide inks. I then took the Tim Holtz Stamptember stencil and some Nuvo Moonstone Glimmer paste and went right over the top of my ink blended background. This Stamptember stencil is no longer available, but Tim Holtz has a very similar one called Hocus Pocus.

I decided to splatter some Black Soot distress ink on the back ground for some added interest. I used the Halloween Hill die by Impression Obsession for the silhouette effect but I wanted to use the houses from the Best Witches stamp set by MFT so I just trimmed the house off the die and replaced it with the ghost filled houses.

I copic colored my images and popped the witch up with some foam squares. I heat embossed the sentiment from the Best Witches stamp set in white embossing powder.

To finish off my card, I used a Nuvo Aqua Shimmer pen to add a little glitter here and there. I rounded the top corners and added my design to a top folding black card base. I used the same colors to add a panel to the inside so that a written message could be added. I thought it would be fun to add a few details to the inside with the Trick or Treat stamp set by SSS.

I have a quick and easy card to share with y’all this week. MFT products make this a smash it together and it’s done, kinda card. All I had to do was color these adorable elephants from the Adorable Elephants stamp set. Stamp, color, cut, glue. I listed the colors I used below.

Anything But A Card

As soon as I started developing this tag idea in my head, I knew I wanted the glasses to be transparent.

I started out by cutting the Wine tag die in Kraft card stock, both by MFT. I cut this out twice so I’d have a front and a back panel. I positioned the wine glasses from the Wine Service die set where I wanted them then taping them in place, I cut both layers of the wine tag at once so that my glasses would be lined up perfectly on both layers.

I didn’t decide until after I cut the glasses that I wanted a layer of Paver Red card stock (MFT) as the top layer so I had to get a little creative in order to line the glasses up just right. Luckily I still had the Post It tape holding both glasses together so I just lightly traced where I wanted them on the Paver Red layer and then crossed my fingers as I ran it through my Big Shot. I actually didn’t do too bad!! The maroon card stock was slightly crooked, but not enough to make me re-cut it. I used one of the Stitched Border dies by Lawn Fawn to run across the top and bottom for some detail and then glued the Paver Red layer in place.

Then I moved on to making my shaker window. I used my Fuse tool, which I haven’t used in quite some time but I knew it was perfect for this project.

I made my shaker pockets and after filling them with gold micro beads (seed beads are a close comparison), I sandwhiched it in between the two kraft layers.

I stamped a sentiment from the Uncorked stamp set in Merlot ink by SSS, then cut the Cheers die out with some gold glitter card stock. I thought the Cheers needed some dimension so I used the leftover kraft card stock and cut out two additional layers and glued them all together.

Herd You Had a Birthday

Howdy partner(s)!!! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Are you ready for another super fun theme this week at Always Fun Challenges??? If you’d like to see what I created for last week’s theme, which was One Layer, click here. Now, for this weeks theme, this was totally out of my comfort zone, but I made it work. The theme is Down On The Farm.

I didn’t even get this one completed until Saturday afternoon. I had a heck of a time coming up with this one. I’m so glad I did it though. Like I said, this took me out of my little comfort bubble, but check out the result.

I used a never before used stamp set (AKA NBUS) called Lunar Animals by Mama Elephant. I used a NBUS paper pad and a NBUS die from MFT. Too bad Darnell wasn’t doing her NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) challenge right now, this one would totally qualify!! It may not be going on now, but you should check out her blog for the NBUS challenge that she does a couple times a year. It’s a lot of fun.

This was another one that I completely winged it as I went. I had no idea how this was going to turn out. While this is not my normal style, I still think it turned out ok. I think it would be perfect for a kid’s Birthday. The inside reads, “Have a Moo-tiful Day!!”

Another out-of-my-element fun fact is that I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens to color these cute little farm animals. I’ve had these pens for awhile now, but I’ve been quite intimidated by them. I tried them when I first got them and I just didn’t like them. Or I should say I didn’t like my results. But the more videos I’ve seen of people using them, the less intimidating they seem so I decided to give them another try. I was actually pleasantly surprised. I really like them!! As long as I had a water brush right next to me at all times and a super fine paint brush, I felt comfortable. I felt like I could handle it without holding my breath the entire time.

Well Hello There… Distress Oxides again

Hi again!! I’m back with some more distress oxide backgrounds. I just can’t get enough of these!! I want to take an entire day and just play. In a perfect world, I’d actually have time to do that, but until then, I’ll settle with experimenting as I go. I had a lot of fun playing around with these last week too, I actually ended up making a few cards which is always nice. Seems like I just don’t have all that much time to make cards these days. This card was SUPER easy and super quick. The theme this week at Always Fun Challenges is Dies and/or Punches. I’m going to try and keep this post short and sweet as I am in the middle of yet another Birthday sleepover weekend. This time for my son’s BFF that is living with us. Hey! My Birthday is tomorrow (Oct. 2), maybe I should have a sleepover too!!!! That could be kinda fun, if I had some crafty friends that lived close by. We could craft the night away!!

I have to show you how cute these boys are. I just love them with all I got. This is everyone singing Happy Birthday to Bub. Mine is the one on the far right and Bubby is his BFF.

Here’s a recent one that I absolutely love. My friend had just made this shirt for me so we were showing some Jr Cubs spirit. This was right before a game. I shared this on my IG, but I love it so much, I thought I’d share it here too.

I am TOTALLY late to the show, but my crafty friend, Darnell is currently running her NBUS challenge so I’m also entering this into her 10 day long challenge. This is one that I’m sure everyone can enjoy. NBUS stands for Never Before Used Schtuff and if you guys are anything like me, you could participate in this every day for a month and still not get thru all of your NBUS… Please check out her blog for all the details and follow her!! She’s hilarious and she does this challenge a few times a year. It’s the perfect push to use those products that you’ve never used before.

Back To School

Hi guys!! Hope all you parents are getting back into the swing of a routine. We started school last Wednesday and I think we’re finally getting our groove back. It’s amazing how every year, we seem to forget how to cope with back to school!!! We struggle with the getting up early, getting lunches made, early bedtime routine, as if we didn’t just do it the year before!! This year is particularly crazy because my husband is coaching football and I took over as the Vice President of the football league (first year even on the board so I have no idea what I’m doing). I’m here to tell you, it’s a lot more work than I thought it was going to be!! That on top of everything else in our lives is making me a little crazy. So school and football basically start at the same time. We’ve had Jayden’s best friend, Bubby and his Mom staying with us for a couple of weeks now so it’s been nice having another Mom here to help us function.

Speaking of “Back to School”, that is the theme this week at Always Fun Challenges. So bust out your back to school stamps and get crafty with them!! I don’t really have any school/teacher related stamp sets so this was the closest I could get. I absolutely LOVE these little birds from the Stacking Animals set from Simon Says Stamp. They work for so many different occasions.

Look how CUTE they are!!! And the glasses from the Geek is Chic die (by MFT) fit perfect on the biggest bird. I just can’t get over how cute they are. I added some Spectrum Noir Sparkle to the glasses and then topped them off with glossy accents.

This will go live after our hectic weekend, but right now I’m desperately trying to get my house clean for Jayden’s Birthday sleepover that we’re having Saturday night (so when you see this, that would have been last night). We just realized 2 days ago that we have to do it this weekend. My son’s Birthday is next week but next weekend is Labor Day weekend and I’m doing a 2 day craft fair, then we have football games every Saturday night from now until November. Our next home game isn’t until September 23rd. And I just realized all of this 2 days ago… Way to go, Misty!! My hubby is at the high school football game right now with Jayden and 6 of his friends so I’m taking advantage of this childless moment to CLEAN!!!
