Hello crafty friends!! Please join me for a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. This week the challenge is
Thinking of You
Veteran’s Day is on November 11th, which is the anniversary of the end of World War 1. It honors veterans and the sacrifices that were made during past wars. We will remember them and thank them for their service. Without their heroic efforts the world would be a very different place.
We are showcasing Simon Says Stamp Exclusive Products this week. If you have any of these products, we’d love to see them used, but it’s certainly not a requirement to join the challenge.
As always, the generous folks at Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a $50 voucher to one randomly selected winner to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store. You can enter 5 times which means you can make 5 different projects following this week’s prompt and have 5 chances to win a shopping spree!! Sounds like a win/win to me!! I’ve linked all of the supplies that I used at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.
Since I didn’t have any Thinking of You or Get Well cards, I decided to turn this challenge into an even bigger challenge. I set out to make a few cards that I could make in about 15 minutes, give or take a minute or two. I used the Healing Hugs stamp set by Simon Says Stamp for my first 2 cards.
These first 2 aren’t “Thinking of You” cards, but when I think of T.O.Y. cards, I also think of “Get Well” in the same category. And since I didn’t have any of either, I made 3 Get Well’s and 3 Thinking of You’s.
This first card was SUPER easy. I started out with the Marble Background stamp by MFT on Fog card stock and Fog ink to create my background. Then I used images from the Healing Hugs set and white heat embossed them. I found a piece of gorgeous teal card stock in my scraps bin and white heat embossed the secondary sentiment. Tonic’s Aquatic Mist Glitter Drops matched perfectly so I added a few random drops here and there. I found 2 pink hearts floating around my craft room and I liked the pink with the teal and gray so I added those too. I added my card front to a top folding A2 card base using Neenah Solar White 110 lb. card stock. Voila!! Card #1 is complete.
For my 2nd card, I started out with a beautiful patterned paper from Sunny Studio called Heroic Halftones (fitting for this challenge) and centered the same floral ring that I used on the first card. I heat embossed it using white embossing powder and did the same with the sentiment. Using the Nested Circles die by SSS, I cut out my design using the 2nd largest circle. Using the largest circle, I cut out a piece of Sunshine card stock. I used the same largest circle die to create my card base by doing some partial die cutting.
I took some Chipped Sapphire distress ink and ink blended around the edge of the smaller circle. The secondary sentiment is also from the Healing Hugs stamp set. I stamped it on the same Sunshine card stock by SSS. I used the smallest Sentiment Labels die from SSS to cut it out and attach it across the front of my card front. I added some Steel Blue Nuvo Jewel Drops by Tonic as an embellishment and attached it to my circular card base. Card # 2 complete.
This is the card I made specifically for this challenge. To honor those that have served and are currently serving our country.
This stamp set called Wildflowers by SSS is my favorite stamp for creating a super fast, need it in a pinch kind of card. Just add some distress ink and a sentiment and you’re done! This sentiment is from Sketched Flowers, but I made 2 more of these cards and I also used the Thinking of You stamp from the Say It All Friend stamp set, which is a little bit larger so I added clear embossing powder to that one. You can see it in my video, if you’d like.
Three cards that took about 15 minutes each to make. I was on such a roll that I made 6 cards for this challenge!! Three Get Well cards and three Thinking of You. I would say I had a productive day!!
So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!!
