Hi guys!! I have a very quick to make Easter card to share today. The theme this week at Always Fun Challenges is Easter. I’ve had this Easter die for a year now and haven’t used it so I made this card around that Easter die. If you’d like to see what I made for last week’s challenge, which was Dogs or Cats, click here.
The ink blending is what took me the longest and that still only took about 5 minutes. I’m really loving this color combo. I used Candied Apple distress ink and Dried Marigold.
I’m not sure if you can see it, but I used a polka dot embossing folder for the background. The biggest oval was cut using Fog card stock from SSS.
If you’d like to join us at Always Fun Challenges, you can click on the link in the sidebar or click here and I’ll take you over. We have a NEW theme each week and everyone is welcome to join us.
Hi guys!! Here is my second card that I made using the DIY card kit that Candace Gillespie from Candace’s Canvases put together for me. She has the same kit and we both made 2 cards now using the same supplies. You can check out my YouTube channel for all 3 videos. First the unboxing, then my first card and now this one. I also have links to her channel so you can see what she created as well.
Again, I had a lot of fun making these cards. They were certainly challenging only because they were a little out of my comfort bubble, but I’m so glad I did it!!
But we’re not done!! Very soon I will be putting a kit together for both of us to do this again using my kit!! So stay tuned…
Hi guys!! It’s time for another exciting new challenge at Always Fun Challenges. Our theme this week is Cats or Dogs. Or cats and dogs. Whichever tickles your fancy. I had to go with an orange tabby of course because my (other) baby is an orange tabby. We do have 3 cats, but Taffy is a one person kind of cat. She’s very sweet to me…. But only me. She scratches and bites everyone else. But she follows me everywhere I go, has to be in the bathroom when I take a shower, she sleeps on me every night. In fact, she’s in my lap as we speak. Just recently she’s decided that my craft chair is HER chair so as soon as I get out of it, she’s in it. And while I’m in it, she’s on my lap. It’s quite challenging sometimes to craft this way especially when I’m all over the place!!

Anyway, I used a new (to me) stamp set by MFT Stamps called I Knead You. It is such a sweet set! It even has an image with a front and a back stamp so you can have one side of a cat on the front of your card, and the back side of a cat on the inside or even through acetate would be super cute too. There’s a dog set too that is just as cute.
I added a little foam tape on the other side of that stitched line you see down the middle of the box to give it dimension. Looking at it now, I really wish I would have used a little distress ink around the edges of the box lid just to give it some life.
You can see a little peek of the foam tape on the other side of that stitch down the middle of the box. I love that little bit of dimension it gives. I decided to put craft foam on the back of the entire card front as well.
I made my background using the Wide Stripes stamp set by SSS. I LOVE how it turned out. That Fog is the perfect color for a nice, neutral background. I’ll definitely be using that again in the near future. After I colored my kitty, all I had to do was heat emboss the Hello with white embossing powder, cut it out with the matching die and basically put it all together!
Here’s a quick pic of the fur baby that inspired this card.

I LOVE getting these emails. Simon Says Stamp is having a really AWESOME sale right now. It’s intriguing because it’s a mystery!! Not only do you get $5 off your order of $5 or more, but you can also get 20% over 50 different mystery brands!! This sale is going on until March 18th so don’t delay!!
All you have to do when you’re checking out is use code LUCKY777 and watch before your very eyes as it reveals which items in your cart are 20% off!!! 20% is HUGE!! Well, it usually is for me because I can’t place an order under $100 at SSS. I’ve tried, but I just can’t. Unfortunately, I just place 2 orders in the last 2 days so I won’t be taking advantage of this awesome sale so I hope you do!!
Good morning friends! I want to quickly share this fun card that I made using the card kit that my friend, Candace Gillespie put together for me. I had so much fun doing this, I had never done anything like this before but I’m so glad I did!! Check out my YouTube channel for the Unboxing video by clicking here. I also explain the rules in that video as well.
I had never made a vintage card before so this was certainly a challenge, but I love challenging myself. Candace made a card using the same items so be sure to check out her channel as well. Click here and I’ll take you there myself.
We both have one more card to make using this kit so stay tuned for that video!!
Here is my video featuring this card.
Most of the items came from Candace, which she’s included links to in her video, but here are the few items that I added to my card.
Hello friends!! Since St. Patty’s Day is just around the corner, I have a very green card to share with you today. The theme this week at Always Fun Challenges is “Shades of Green” and this card certainly has a lot of green!! As green as it is, I still love it simply because you cannot go wrong with Purple Onion Design images. Everything that comes out of that company is absolutely adorable.

This card was riddled with mistakes but at the end of the day (or rather 2 days) I’m happy to report that I was able to salvage it. Well, it wasn’t so much mistakes that would ruin the card, it was more like I did things, time consuming things, that I really didn’t need to do. Starting off with masking the two critters before I stamped the background when all I really needed to mask was Buttercup the Bunny’s ears. But do you know how long it took me to fussy cut that darn mouse and his curly tail?!? Longer than it should have, we’ll just say. And then I had to do it all over again!!
As much time as I spent on this adorable mouse, it was well worth it. I just love this little character. And I love Buttercup just as much. See how cute they both are?
I used Bristol Smooth paper for this card and it was interesting to watercolor on. The color just kind of sat on top of the paper, which was fine. It was just interesting to me. I’m used to the Tim Holtz watercolor paper or the Arches or even Strathmore. All of those papers suck up the pigment pretty quickly. But the bristol is so smooth, I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. I would definitely use it again for watercoloring though.
After watercoloring the background, I tried a few different mediums for the critters. First I tried watercoloring them on some scratch bristol paper and I didn’t like the outcome so I moved on to colored pencils. I just recently learned how to color animals in my Kit and Clowder monthly coloring class, but these animals were just a bit too small for a newbie like myself to try and get that much detail out of them. So I finally settled on my trusty Copics. I love coloring with Copic markers. I used X-press It Blending card which gives me the best results when I’m using my Copics. Then I just glued them over the top of the masked images I had previously stamped. I even colored the images behind the top image because I was planning on popping both or at least one of them up on some adhesive squares, but I didn’t like that either for some reason. This card really was a trial and error project.
I heat embossed my sentiment with some gold embossing powder, added some S.N. glitter pen to the red heart and lastly I tried to sabotage the entire thing with a big glob of Glossy Accents.
Before I go, I would love for you guys to check out my YouTube channel. I’m doing a really fun collaboration with Candace Gillespie of Candace’s Canvases and I have the first step uploaded on my channel.
Thank you so much for stopping by today. If you’d like to join us at the Always Fun Challenges blog, you can either click here or click on the link in the sidebar to upload your creation. We have a new theme every week that is open to everyone and I’d love to see your creations over there!
